Bromo Cresol Purple HiVeg™ Broth Base (Yeast Fermentation HiVeg™ Broth Base) is used for studying fermentation of carbohydrates by pure cultures. Basal medium (without carbohydrates) are usually employed for studying the carbohydrate utilizing patterns of different organisms by the addition of the desired carbohydrate. On fermentation, colour of medium changes from purple to yellow. Air bubbles trapped in the inverted Durhams tubes indicate gas production. This medium is prepared by replacing animal peptones with vegetable defined peptones to avoid BSE/TSE/GMO risk.
